Mangosteen Owner Brings New Concept to Grand Central

Plates Sushi Grill

Plates Sushi Grill, by the owner of Mangosteen and The Crane, will open in the Grand Central District.

Exciting news for St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District: Plate Sushi Grill and Lounge is set to open this summer at 1601 Central Avenue, on the ground floor of the Arte luxury apartment building. This innovative concept is brought to life by Sean Thongsiri, the visionary behind local favorites like Mangosteen, The Crane, The Glass Noodle, and Green Pagoda.

WWG’s Involvement

The lease transaction for Plate was expertly facilitated by Jake Wollman and Jon Wittner of Keller Williams’ Wittner Wollman Group, who represented the landlord. Their dedication and expertise have been instrumental in bringing this exciting new dining experience to the community.

Plate’s Menu and Further Expansions

Plate’s menu promises a fusion of flavors, featuring Laos-style tacos, octopus ceviche, yakitori (Japanese skewers), rice and noodle bowls, dumplings, empanadas, salads, and an extensive selection of sushi. Complementing the culinary offerings is a large bar serving creative craft cocktails. As Leonard Contractors completes the interior buildout, the team is also preparing to debut a sister location in Carrollwood at 13134 North Dale Mabry Highway, the former site of Marlow’s Tavern. While both locations will share the same delectable menu, each will boast its own unique interior design.
